In years past we have driven up to Salt Lake and brought Daddy and Grandma balloons and a fancy invitation. One year there was too much snow so I made a digital invite on my blog and this year I just texted the invitation. But the words were fancy!!
Dinner is usually nothing too fancy, last night it was chicken enchiladas and wonderful strawberries and salad. But the decorations make it a party! We had curly streamers all throughout the kitchen and front room, and candy hearts scattered on the table. The kids had a fun time reading them as statements to each other during dinner, and let's not forget the candles!! We love eating by candle light over here!!
Also on the table were our Valentines boxes. We had a Family Night on February 1st and gave each person a Valentines box, they had to write their name on it. Then for the next 2 weeks, anytime someone did something nice for someone else they wrote about it and put it into the persons box, and if you knew someone did something nice for you wrote thank you in their box.. Also people wrote what they loved about the person and put it in. I also put a few little treats for them in their boxes, these cute silver heart "wish" tokens.
After dinner we listened to the kids music, and played Clue.
I figure if I have 4 sons, then I have 5 Valentines, my wonderful and funny Valentine Jim, Who brought us beautiful red and fire and ice roses) has 2, Saylor and I. And we all have Grandma as our Valentine too (She got some roses too).
It won't be many years that my boys will let me keep this up, and somehow it surprises them every year. So I need to enjoy them while I can!
