Grammy & Little Nancy

I am named after my Grammy. Nancy Jean Jodon Young. She was a fun and loving Grammy. She was taken from us when she was far too young. I was only 14 when she passed away. Most of my memories of her are when I was older, and she was sick. I love this picture strip, because it helps me remember her when we were younger. She loved that I was named after her. She loved my curly hair, she had naturally curly hair too. She always told me to never cut it. I don't remember when and where this was taken, and I think she put some lipstick on me, so we could be matchies. I love that she got into a little photobooth with me, This picture strip shows so much of our personalities and relationship. When I look at the last 2 pictures, I can still hear her wry laughter. I miss her!!

Easy Personalized Gift

I was looking for a new idea to give as a small spotlight gift for a Church meeting a few months ago. I asked my cousin, Tammy Elizabeth, and she gave me the cutest idea!! I love when that happens!!

These are soap bottles (I bought them last year on clearance) Once you remove all of teh labels on the outside you can put a transparency inside!! You can print whatever you want on the transparent paper, cut to size and Voila!! Ready made gift.

I was able to fit 5 images on one sheet and had them printed for me for .59 cents at Office Depot. It was so cheap I had 2 sheets printed!! Big spender, I know!

Easy. Inexpensive. Fun.

Thanks, Tam!!

Valentine Love 2011

Each year we have a Valentines Party, for our cute family and my sweet Mom.

In years past we have driven up to Salt Lake and brought Daddy and Grandma balloons and a fancy invitation. One year there was too much snow so I made a digital invite on my blog and this year I just texted the invitation. But the words were fancy!!

Dinner is usually nothing too fancy, last night it was chicken enchiladas and wonderful strawberries and salad. But the decorations make it a party! We had curly streamers all throughout the kitchen and front room, and candy hearts scattered on the table. The kids had a fun time reading them as statements to each other during dinner, and let's not forget the candles!! We love eating by candle light over here!!

Also on the table were our Valentines boxes. We had a Family Night on February 1st and gave each person a Valentines box, they had to write their name on it. Then for the next 2 weeks, anytime someone did something nice for someone else they wrote about it and put it into the persons box, and if you knew someone did something nice for you wrote thank you in their box.. Also people wrote what they loved about the person and put it in. I also put a few little treats for them in their boxes, these cute silver heart "wish" tokens.

After dinner we listened to the kids music, and played Clue.

I figure if I have 4 sons, then I have 5 Valentines, my wonderful and funny Valentine Jim, Who brought us beautiful red and fire and ice roses) has 2, Saylor and I. And we all have Grandma as our Valentine too (She got some roses too).

It won't be many years that my boys will let me keep this up, and somehow it surprises them every year. So I need to enjoy them while I can!
